South Tyne Drilling specialise in landfill gas extraction and monitoring wells plus leachate extraction and monitoring wells. Since adopting the barrel augering technique in addition to the flight augering, South Tyne Drilling have experienced phenomenal demand for the larger diameter wells the barrel auger offers. Although 450mm wells are most commonly requested, the demand for 600mm wells has grown dramatically as clients realise the benefits of this larger diameter, especially for leachate wells.

The waste is collected into the barrel during the drilling process and once full the barrel is withdrawn from the borehole, positioned over the top of a dumper before the waste is emptied into the dumper without any human interaction with the waste.
